Pizza Time!
I love pizza. A lot of
restaurants and fast food pizza places are now caring a Gluten Free pizza. It
is very exciting to see so many restaurants and pizza places serving Gluten
Free pizza. These types of pizza restaurants
have a huge risk of being contaminated. The restaurants pushes people with
Celiac Disease or severe gluten sensitivity should not order a pizza. I know
that just a size of a tiny head of pin can cause a lot of damage, but I am not
too scared. To me I look at it no different then my kitchen. My family isn’t
gluten free so my kitchen and condiments runs into the risk of
contamination. It is up to you if you
want to risk it or not.
I have had two Georgio’s Gluten Free Gourmet Pizza now
and have had no problems. Keep in mind
everyone is different. Just because I didn’t get any symptoms doesn’t mean you
will. Georgio’s Gluten Free Pizza is so good. I would give it 5 stars out of 5.

Dominos:
Domino’s Crust Ingredients: Water, Modified Rice
Starch, Rice Flour, Brown Rice Flour, Potato Starch, Olive Oil, Potato Flour,
Evaporated Cane Sugar, Fresh Yeast, Honey, Avicel, Salt, Calcium Propionate. Note:
Avicel functions as a fat replacer in Gluten Free crusts. It is used primarily
to help retain moisture so the crust is not too dry and tough.
On their website they have a
warning saying not for people with Celiac Disease or people who suffer from gluten
sensitivity because of contamination.
They do answer the question: Is the Gluten Free Crust prepared—BEFORE
going to the store—in a gluten free environment? They replied: Domino's® Gluten Free
Crust is manufactured by a supplier who runs its Gluten Free products on a
certified, clean production line in a gluten free facility. To ensure
compliance to our standards of less than 20ppm gluten in Domino's® Gluten Free
Crust, the manufacturing facility and the Gluten Free Crusts produced there are
regularly tested, prior to arriving to our stores.
What
is Gluten Exposure? They replied: Gluten is present in Domino's® Hand Tossed
Dough. After stretching the dough, small gluten particles could remain on the
pizza maker's hands, which then touch the cheese and toppings and could
transfer to these ingredients. Due to the handcrafted nature of Domino's®
products and because stores do not have a separate gluten free area in the
kitchen, a possibility for gluten exposure can occur. As such, pizza made with
Domino's® Gluten Free Crust is not recommended for customers with celiac
disease. However, because the risk for exposure is low, this pizza made with
Domino's® Gluten Free Crust is an option for individuals with mild gluten
sensitivities.
Always call the restaurants and pizza delivery service before going just incase they decide they aren't carrying Gluten Free products.
My rant: Pizza restaurants with the contamination warning makes me a little annoyed because why offer GF pizza if you aren’t going to make it in a safer area of your restaurant. I know there are people who just eat gluten-free because of all of the health benefits, but if I were on gluten-free diet just for the health benefits I would just splurge and have a regular wheat pizza.
Plus, people who eat gluten-free to loose weight or to just be healthier would most likely not eat pizza anyways. Instead, they would be eating salad with raspberry salad dressing and not a high greasy pizza. So these restaurants should really think about having a small safe area where the wheat flour isn’t flying in the air and a few pans that are dedicated gluten free. Right now these gluten free pizza are only teasing people with Celiac Disease and severe gluten free sensitivity.
