My 2019 Golden Globe Awards Predictions

The Golden Globes of 2019 is fast approaching. I thought it would be fun to let you know who I think will win and who I wish will win. I haven't seen all of the movies and tv shows, but I will predict from the trailers and critics. Even if you haven't seen all of the movies and tv shows it is still fun to see if you are predicting it right.

To be honest, I haven't seen every movie in this category, but from what I have seen of them and what I have read from critics the film who has a very good chance of winning is Bohemian Rhapsody.

What I would love to see win: I would love to see Bohemian Rhapsody or Black Panther.

A Star is Born was a good film but if it wasn't for Lady Gaga and her music it would have been very boring.

I have not seen every movie in this category but I believe Mary Poppins Returns will win. I also could see Vice winning because everyone seems to be into politics.
What I would love to see win is Mary Poppins Returns

I haven't seen all of these but I feel Lady Gaga will win for  A Star is Born.
I am hoping Lady Gaga wins or Melissa McCarthy.

I haven't seen every film in this category, but I believe Rami Malck will win for Bohemian Rhapsody.
I would like to see Rami Malck win.

I haven't seen all of these movies but I believe Emily Blunt will win for Mary Poppins Returns
I would like to see Emily Blunt Win.

I haven't seen all of these movies but I believe Viggo Mortensen will win for Green Book
I want to see Lin-Manuel Miranda win for Mary Poppins Returns.

I haven't seen all of these films but I think Emma Stone will win for The Favourite.
I would like to see Emma Stone or Amy Adams win for this category.

I haven't seen all of these films, but I believe Timothee Chalamet Beautiful Boy or Mahershala Ali for Green Room.  I am leaning more towards Mahershala Ali.
I would like to see Mahashala Ali win for Green Room.

I haven't seen all of these films, but I believe Peter Farreily will win for Green Book.
I am hoping Bradly Cooper will win for A Star is Born

I have not seen all of these films but I have a feeling Alfonso Cuaron for Roma will win.
I would like to see Deborah Davis, Tony McNamara win for The Favourite.

I haven't seen all of these films but I believe Mirai will win.
I hope Incredibles 2 will win.

I have no clue who will win this category. I have a feeling Roma or Shoplifters will be the winner. I am leaning more towards Shoplifters.

I haven't seen all of these films, but I pretty certain Mary Poppins Returns will win this category. I would like to see Mary Poppins Returns win this category.

I have heard all these songs. I believe Shallow from A Star is Born will win. I would like to see Shallow win too.

I haven't seen every TV series on this list but I have a feeling The Americans will win. I would like  Bodyguard to win.

I have seen all of these and I believe  The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will win this category. I hope it will win too.

I haven't seen any of these, but I have a feeling The Alienist will win.

I haven't seen these shows, but I believe Regina King will win.

I haven't seen any of these, but I believe Benedict Cumberbatch will win
This one is really tough. I have seen all of these. I believe Elisabeth Moss will win for The Tale Handmaid. I want to see Caitriona Balfe to win for Outlander.

I have seen a couple of these TV series. I believe Billy Porter will win for Pose. I would like to see Jason Bateman win for Ozark.

I have seen all of these TV series. I believe Rachel Brosnaham will win for  The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

I haven't seen all of these TV shows but I believe Michael Douglas will win for The Kominsky Method. I would like to see Jim Carrey win for Kidding.
This is another hard category. I have seen most of these shows. I believe Yvonne Strahovski will win for The Handmaid's Tale. I would like to see Alex Borstein win for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

I haven't seen all these shows, but I believe Alan Arkin will win for The Kominsky Method. I would love to see Henry Winkler will win for Barry.

Who do you think will win? Tune to the Golden Globes on Sunday, January 6th, 2019 at 8:00pm EST.

New Life Success Steps

  • Pray, pray, and then pray some more. And after that, pray.
  • Have faith enough for the both of you. Have faith enough for the whole family if necessary.
  • Keep fighting for your addicted loved one until they can do battle for themselves.
  • Choose to believe beyond what you can see.
  • Picture their future and believe the vision.
  • Celebrate your loved one’s freedom—dare to believe!

Healing is yours for the taking. Reach out, ask God for help, and then receive it. Never lose hope that your loved one will be healed. My life, and the lives of so many others, is proof that God can even bring the dead back to life.
Your loved one was made for more than this. Don’t give up!

Crazy Costs of Spaying a Kitten

Trixie my female kitten is needing to be spayed really soon.  She will be 6 months old in two weeks.  I am trying to decide where I should take her to get it done. My regular vet charges $125 and this includes bloodwork, exam, medication, IV Fluids, overnight stay and the cone of shame.

I thought maybe there might another Vet out there that charges less, but was really surprised at how crazy different the prices are from one vet to another. I was expecting Vets are charging around the same amount, but I was totally wrong.

Here is my research:

  • Northland Animal Hospital charges $90 for a pre-surgery exam + $450 (Surgery, Bloodwork, Overnight stay, Medications) + $61(Micro Chip)
  • Cascade Animal Hospital - $40 Pre-Exam + $333 Surgery + $41 Microchip
  • Kentwood Animal Hospital $250 Surgery + $61 Microchip
  • Red Barn Animal Hospital $200 Surgery + $40 Microchip
  • Cat Clinic surprised me the most. I was expecting this one to be the $450 but instead, they were $40 pre-exam +$175 Surgery + $40 Microchip.

  • C-Snip is the cheapest at $45 for both the microchip and surgery. All of my friends are telling me to take her to C-Snip, but I like how my vet is doing bloodwork and exam before doing the surgery.
It is extremely important to spay and neuter your pet. It is also important to not declaw your cats.  I still can't believe all the vets asked me if I would like to declaw my kitten. Hell no!! I would never do that. It is basically cutting their fingers off.  That is just plain cruel. If you don't want a pet with claws then don't get a cat. There are little nail toppers that help cats not scratch the furniture. Went on a rant.

This is a well-crafted Christian Romance Supsense book. I found this book to be fast-paced and fun to read. Can't wait to read the next installment of the series.  The characters are well thought out, fun and real type characters.  Toni DeLuca is a single, good-looking Christian woman who inherited DeLuca Construction when her father passed away.  Perrin Douglas, a widowed father hired Toni to put an addition onto his home. Their friendship goes further. This causes Toni to question who he really is; is he the person behind the sabotage? Is he the one making people question her and her father's business?  The story was simple but there was a lot of things I didn't expect to happen. There are four books in the “An Appleton, WV Romantic Mystery” series and I look forward to reading them. This is book would make a great movie for the Hallmark Mystery Christmas movie channel.

Besides being a member and active participant of many writing groups, Carole Brown enjoys mentoring beginning writers. An author of ten books, she loves to weave suspense and tough topics into her books, along with a touch of romance and whimsy, and is always on the lookout for outstanding titles and catchy ideas. She and her husband reside in SE Ohio but have ministered and counseled nationally and internationally. Together, they enjoy their grandsons, traveling, gardening, good food, the simple life, and did she mention their grandsons?

Prayer Warrior Confessions by Harriet E. Michael & Shirley Crowder Book Review

Author: Harriet E. Michael and Shirley Crowder
Genre: Non-Fiction, Christian Living, Inspirational
Release Date: November, 2018
Publisher: Write Integrity Press
Come along with other prayer warriors and read their stories. Some of the stories will make you cry while others will make you laugh. Each story ends with a confession from the writer in which he or she shares an insight about prayer or something new they learned through their experience.
Readers of Prayer Warrior Confessions will learn more about prayer as they enjoy the true and candid stories of other people’s experiences with prayer. They see the stories through the writers’ eyes and glean the insights the writers learned.
True stories of prayer in action that will make you cry, laugh, sigh, smile, and stand amazed.
I was really surprised with Prayer Warrior Confessions. I thought it was going to be a very preachy book. Instead, it was full of heartwarming stories. There are thirty-seven stories. A lot of personal and missionary stories. Most of the stories I was able to follow along but there were a couple I found hard to follow. All of these stories talked about family, friends, and missionary work.
Crowder and Micheal through these stories explain that not every prayer is answered in the way you were hoping. It shows you the amazing ways God listen to our prayers and points us in the direction to get our prayers answered. At the end of each chapter, there is a confession.  I would highly recommend this book, especially for a daily devotional or Bible Study. Prayer Warrior Confessions contains real stories from real people.

Here are some confession examples in the book:
My Confession : There is an old saying, “God
helps those who help themselves.” This may not be
theologically accurate and there are many times
God helps those who cannot help themselves. Often
God expects us to do our part too. With prayer and
effort, much can be accomplished.
~ Nwakuche Emeka ~

My Confession: God’s ways are not our ways.
Sometimes when we are praying for a specific
situation, God has a much bigger plan in mind
which will bear fruit for years to come.
~ Shirley Crowder ~

The authors, Shirley Crowder and Harriet E. Michael are lifelong friends whose parents served as missionaries in Nigeria, West Africa. Their friendship has spanned across two continents, numerous states, and many, many years. Learn more about them at

Guest Post from Shirley & Harriet

God writes the best stories … and sometimes we get the privilege of recording them.
Co-writers Harriet E. Michael and Shirley Crowder have a common interest in all things Biblical. Over the past few years they have worked together on a series of books on the topic of prayer. “Prayer Warrior Confessions” is the fourth & final book in that series. It is a book filled with true stories of experiences with and lessons learned about prayer. This collection of true stories was written by various contributors who retell a story from their lives about a time they saw prayers answered, and/or learned a new lesson about prayer. These stories are heartwarming, exciting, sad, funny, and will touch your heart in so many ways while also sharing deeper insights into prayer.
Yes, God creates the best stories & He writes them on the parchment of our lives, teaching us lessons through them.

Fate of the Watchman by Chad Pettit Book Review

Fate of the Watchman is a tale about Luster's life.  He only thinks about himself.  We are taken on his journey of experiencing violence, homelessness, and persecution. All of this leads him to God.  This book reminds a lot like Its a Wonderful Life and  A Christmas Carol.  The beginning was a tad on the slow side and I really wish they gave more character depth, but it did have a great cliffhanger.  Very inspiring and even at time suspenseful. I would recommend this short story series and can't wait to read the next book by Chad Pettit.

Lester Sharp is a workaholic, obsessed with the success of his business and oblivious to the world around him. All of that changes when a peculiar stranger comes into his shop asking for food and help. Lester soon finds himself on an impossible journey around the world to bear witness to some of the greatest tragedies a person can know, all frozen in a single moment of time.

In this challenging and gripping novel, debut author Chad Pettit, delivers a supernatural, pulse-pounding adventure in which Lester Sharp is in for the longest second of his life and learns lessons to last a lifetime.

Chad is a Christian fiction author, poet, and English teacher. He was born and raised in Oregon and then spent ten years traveling around the world in the Army as an infantry soldier. His passion for inspiring people to find their best life drives his writing and is a constant thread through works of Biblical fiction and fantasy. He lives in Central Texas with his wife, sons, and a dog that is far too human.
