Home Security- Ring Doorbell Experience

I finally got a Ring Doorbell. Our neighborhood has been going down the hill. We have been having a lot of shootings, car theft, break-ins. A friend of mine talked us into getting one. I'm glad she did once we got the right one LOL. I accidentally bought the Ring Peephole Camera, so if you live in an apartment they make one for you. I suggest talking to your landlord before installing if you think you might what one.

I bought the Ring Peephole Camera from Amazon for $80 and had to return it to the USP Store. I bought the one I really wanted at Best Buy for around $100 and did the two-year warranty on it.

The set-up can be a little challenging especially if you want to hook it up to your doorbell chimes. You can hook it up to your original doorbell so it uses your electricity and not the battery.  I decided not to hook it up to our doorbell because our doorbell button is a way to close the door causing it not to see anything but the wall.

The battery is said to last 3-8 months. I believe you can take it down and charge it. I could be wrong.

Step 1: Open box

Step: 2 Read directions

Step 3: Charge the Ring

Step 4: Have a drink a whiskey.

Step 5: Download the Ring app on your phone.

Step 6: Go outside and determine how you want to hook it up and where. Like I said you don't have to hook it up to your doorbell if you don't want to deal with the wiring and everything.

Step 7: Push Activate Device and follow the directions.

Step 8: Screw the plate to your house.

ONLY USE THEIR SCREWS BECAUSE IT COULD CAUSE A FIRE AND BURN THE BATTERY.

Step 9: Attach the Ring device to the plate.

Step 10: Play around with the app.

The Ring is really cool. You can talk to people, get notified if there is any motion. If you want to keep the videos and photos you will need to sign up for their service. It is $3.00 a month for one device or $10.00 a month if you have more than one device.

You can be at the grocery store and get an alarm there is motion near the Ring. You check the app and there is the mailman picking up packages so you can say "Thank You" and make them jump afoot.  I have been loving making people jump. There was a couple walking their dog and I said "Merry Christmas" through the device and they couldn't figure out where it was coming from.

It also would make a wonderful camera to watch your pets when you are gone. I have two cats. It is awful when you have to take a poop sample to the vet. It is hard to follow your cat all the time to their litter. Ring has made it so much easier. I will immediately know who the poop belongs to without making them mad because I was constantly following them to the bathroom.

I highly recommend it. It wasn't horrible to set-up.
