Frozen the National Tour - Review

I was so excited when I found out Frozen was coming to our town. My mom and I were lucky to get tickets to see it.  Broadway Grand Rapids does an amazing job of bring the best Broadway shows to Grand Rapids, Michigan.

This is a Broadway adaptation of the beloved Disney film, Frozen. Directed by Michael Grandage and featuring music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, this production is a magical experience that captures the essence of the original movie while adding its own unique touches.

One of the standout elements of Frozen on Broadway is its stunning visual design. The set, designed by Christopher Oram, seamlessly transitions between various locations such as Arendelle Castle and Elsa's ice palace. The use of projections and lighting effects enhances the enchanting atmosphere, transporting the audience into a winter wonderland. The costumes were so breathtaking. Elsa's quick change was magic. It happened so smoothly. Got to love Disney Magic.

The puppetry is so much fun. It looks like Sven has two people in his costume but it is only one person who is uses arms and legs stilts.

They use the Ensembles' white costume to project lights on them to make it look like everyone got frozen.  The use of projectors was well done.

Here is a fun video talking about their costumes and how

The cast delivers exceptional performances, bringing their characters to life with depth and emotion. Caroline Bowman shines as Elsa, capturing both her vulnerability and strength through her powerful vocals. Lauren Nichole Chapman brings warmth and humor to Anna's character, creating a relatable protagonist that audiences can root for.

The musical numbers are another highlight of this production. From iconic songs like "Let It Go" to new additions like "Monster," each song is beautifully performed and perfectly integrated into the story. The choreography by Rob Ashford adds energy and excitement to these musical moments.

While staying true to the heartwarming story that fans know and love, Frozen on Broadway's National Tour also offers some surprises for those familiar with the film. The addition of new songs deepens character development and provides fresh perspectives on well-known scenes.

Frozen on Broadway's National Tour is a must-see theatrical experience that captivates audiences with its stunning visuals, exceptional performances, memorable music, and heartfelt storytelling. Whether you're a fan of the original film or new to this enchanting tale, this production will leave you spellbound from start to finish. If you see it coming to your town, you need to get tickets.
