Joy by Audrey Kai Yoon Children Book Book Review

Image
ABOUT THE BOOK Joy by Audrey Kai Yoon - Audrey wrote Joy for her 6th grade English class assignment when she was 11 years old. She was inspired by a short film about a paper airplane she saw at summer camp. This is where the idea and image of the yellow balloon emerged. When asked if the story is about her dad, Audrey says no. It’s not about any one person. The story is about finding balance and paying attention to the opportunities for joy , opportunities that float right by us all the time. Grade Level:  3 - 4 Hardcover:  38 pages Publisher:  Mascot Books (July 2, 2019) Language:  English ISBN-10:  1643072250 ISBN-13:  978-1643072258 MY BOOK REVIEW About sadness and depression. Devastating News About Oliver the Kitten

Image
I would be lying if I said I am doing well. On September 6th I had to take Oliver back to the vet again He was doing so well and was thinking he might not even have  Feline Infectious Peritonitis  (FIP.)  His blood work didn't look very bad when I took him on August 29th. His WBC was low and his proteins were elevated, but for a FIP kitty, he looked very well.  My vet, Dr. Burns, couldn't see him, but they were able to fit me into another vet's schedule. Oliver hasn't lost any weight. He actually gained a pound. He is now 6.9 pounds. I thought maybe he was having fluid retaining in his belly because he seemed a little hard like when Jakie had cancer and it filled up in his belly. Dr. Miller listened to his breathing. He said there is fluid sounds on his lungs, but his stomach and intestines sound and feel fine. He decided we should do an x-ray.  I was totally fine with that.  Oliver did an amazing job.  Fifteen minutes later and Dr. Miller came back into the room

My Friend Tries Committing Suicide

How do you help a friend who doesn't want to help themself? I am sad, scared and angry. THere is so many emotions I am going through at this moment.  On Wednesday her co-worker was getting into her space and he wouldn't stop. This triggered flashbacks to being a kid with her family member molesting her. Luckily she asked for help. We told her to get into her car, lock the door, call her boss and call 911. She got into the car and left work but she didn't report it. She wanted to make sure she is okay. She also is a cutter and she told us she is cutting herself. Finally, she came to us. We thought she was doing okay, but I guess we were wrong.  Last night she took a whole bottle of Zoloft. There were more than 70 pills in the bottle.  She was suppose to come over to my house and do a real thanksgiving dinner because she has never had a real thanksgiving dinner. Then we were going to put the tree up and watch some Christmas movies. Well this didn't happen.

Secrets by Beckie Lindsey Book Review

Image
MY BOOK REVIEW Beckie Lindsey's book Secrets takes on four high school students, Mackenzie, Sadie, Tammy, and Krystal. It shows the struggles teens go through. For example, depression, sexual drama, and even suicide. We see the girls go  through spiritual warfare.  Lindsey does an amazing job intertwining all four of these girls experiences together. Her writing was descriptive, vivid and emotional. I could relate a little to these girls. The struggle with demons is real. This is not only a great book for teens but adults could relate and find the book to be interesting. I know I had a hard time putting it down.  It was so interesting reading about the battles of demons and angels. I could see this being made into a movie. I can't wait to read book #2.   I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars.  Purchase book: Click Here  ABOUT THE BOOK Author: Beckie Lindsey Genre: Young Adult Release Date: February 2018 Every girl has a secret she hopes the light will never find-
