The Only Negotiating Guide You'll Ever Need by Peter B. Stark and Jane Flaherty Book Review

Image
The Only Negotiating Guide You’ll Ever Need, Revised and Updated by Peter B. Stark and Jane Flaherty is different tactics in negotiations.   I haven’t read enough negotiating books to say this is the only negotiating book you’ll ever need, but I will say this book is to the point in explaining different tactics in a very simplistic and easy manner.   This is an awesome book for high school students who are just graduating.   My favorite chapter is how to negotiate a pay raise.   The first half of the book deals more with the concepts and psychology behind the art of negotiating. It even has a couple of self-assessment tests to take to deter what your skill level is in negotiating.   The strongest part of the book is the second half.   They go into detail on 101 tactics for successful negotiating. For example, one tactic called The Trial Balloon is finding out how firm your counterpart is on the key issues is often helpful in negotiation. You can get some information by sen

What Could Have Caused Your Celiac Disease

Image
Celiac disease is serious autoimmune disease caused by an immune reaction to the ingestion of gluten. 40% of the population has one or both genetic biomarkers for celiac disease, but just 1% of the population actually develops the disease.  Researcher are getting closer to figuring out what could be causing Celiac Disease. According to this video scientists believe reovirus, which is a common and often harmless virus, might be causing the immune system to attack harmless food molecules, like gluten, triggering celiac disease.  Researching are continuing working on figuring out what is causing it in hopes of finding a cure.

Jennifer Esposito on Living with Celiac Disease

Jennifer Esposito is a huge inspiration. I found this video to be helpful in getting awareness out about Celiac Disease and the understanding that it is a hard disease to diagnose and has many symptoms. You don't have to have stomach symptoms to have Celiac Disease.

Surviving Death: A Journalist Investigates Evidence for an Afterlife

Image
As many of you know, I am fascinated about the afterlife and near death experiences because I have experienced a near death myself. I have seen Heaven and Angels as well as my relatives who crossed over. This experience has really affected me a positive and a negative way.  It positively impacted me in knowing I will be going to a peaceful place where I am pain-free. It negatively impacted me because I was given the chance to stay up in Heaven and I decided to come back and keep growing my soul. When I am having a really hard day or week I beat myself up for making the decision to come back.  I came across Leslie Kean book called Surviving Death: A Journalist Investigates Evidence for an Afterlife . She takes people experiences with the afterlife and near death experiences and analyzes them. She basically investigates them.  Kean helped produce a 2011 documentary based on UFOs for the History Channel, made by Breakthru Films, an award-winning film company. Kean has been featured on

Things I Learned From An Ear Infection

Image
Lately, I have been dealing with a really bad ear infection that just doesn't want to go away. The frustration of all the steroids and antibiotic ear drops is getting me down.  Here are some things I have also learned from having ear infections: 1. Don't ever use cotton swabs. NEVER EVER. Using them will cause ear wax to be lodged in the eardrum.  2. Don't put cotton balls on the other part of ear to hold in the ear drops because particles from the cotton ball can and will attach to the thick liquid of the drops that drip down into the ear canal causing the bacteria and fungi to grow even faster as well as causing your hearing to be even worse.   3. Buy lots of perfume because all the vinegar that is squeezed into your ear will eventually come out.  4. The Ear doctor's big vacuum machine is your friend. It hurts like crap, but it relieves the pressure and allows you to hear a little better even though you think at any second he will suck your ea

My Experience with Workplace Bullying

Image
Teaching has always been a dream of mine especially teaching theater and film classes to college students.  In 2006, I taught K-7th graders theater for a year while their regular teacher was recovering from health issues.  Sometimes wondering why I didn't go to college to get a teaching degree because I teaching and helping students learn is something I have a passion for. Plus, I love learning myself. Sometimes things just don't go as plan in life. I thought I was so close to teaching college students. In May 2017,  I was hired to work at a local film college here in Michigan which I graduated from in 2016. They asked me to teach a class until one of their professors who they hired arrives from Florida. Then once he got to the school we would then teach the class together. Well, at least I thought. I taught the class for four weeks and then the students had 4 weeks off while they shot their capstone projects. When they got back I taught the Tuesday class and then I was to

Life After Heaven by Steven R. Musick Book Review

Image
Ever since I died and saw Heaven in 2007,  I have been drawn to other persons out of body experiences.  I was able to get my hands on Steven R. Musick's Steven R. Musick's book  Life After Heaven.  He had his out of body experience after being given the swine flu vaccination. He was allergic to something in the vaccination.  He goes right into the accident in the first couple of chapters. The rest of the book talks about him figuring out what God wants him to with his in life.  After reading his book I don't feel so alone. He fights the same feelings I do. These feelings are wanting to go back to Heaven and being with God. When I was in Heaven I had no pain, no worries, and was very happy. My life isn't as bad as some other people, but suffering from so much pain with  RSD, Celiac, Chrons, Gastroparesis, Heart problem, etc.. it is hard not to just give up. Luckily, Steven R. Musick, who suffered from lots of pain and sickness from the vaccination was later cured

Rescue Me by Susan May Warren

Image
--> I haven't been able to sleep lately due to the pain, so I have been doing a good amount of reading.  Rescue Me is the second book of the Montana series. I have read many suspense romance mystery stories and usually find myself skimming and skipping chapters because it just seems to drag. Susan May Warren’s Rescue Me was the complete opposite. I couldn’t put it down.   Every page had enough descriptions so you can see the locations and what the characters look like and are feeling, but not too much where it just gets boring to read.   Rescue Me has a lot going on. It contains relationships and spiritual struggles.   It’s all about forgiveness and taking chances. Love and faith can be a powerful thing, but also scary in the same breath. This book isn’t too preachy unlike a lot of faith type fictions. This book doesn’t just contain one romance couple, it contains two.   The main romance is between Willow and Sam.   The second relationship is Sam’s brother,

Newton & Polly by Jody Hedlund Book Review

Image
Books pass the time when I'm at the doctors' offices, so I thought I would put some book reviews on here.   I got my hands on Jody Hedlund's book Newton & Polly.  I was drawn to her book because of the cover and description.              This is a typical historical faith romance. A boy meets girl, but boy or girl has to fight to be together, usually because of re ligious views and financial class.   Newton & Polly reminds me a lot of West Side Story and even Romeo and Juliet .  John Newton, a sailor, who sails the sea just living life because he has to.  His father finds him jobs but he tends to screw them up. One day, Newton meets a beautiful dashing woman, but is faced with the reality of her being of wealthy class and he isn’t. She falls madly in love with him, but her father says, "no".  Newton won't take "no" for an answer.  Polly's father will do whatever he can to make sure Newton, the bad boy, will stay clear awa
