Tornado Hit My House

Image
On July 6, 2014 at 10:30pm my house in Kentwood MI got hit hard. Here is what happened. 9:45pm some thunder and lightening in the distance. 10:15pm still some thunder and lightening in the distance. Watching Wzzm13, our local news station, only to see a Flash Flood watch was on the screen. 10:28pm down pour of rain. Then a couple of branches hit the roof. We have a lot of trees in my neighborhood and do on the occasion have branches fall on our house.   The next second a down pour of rain. The rain was hitting the house really hard. Then "boom" "boom" "boom" and many more "booms". My house was shaking. Then we heard aloud "bang" hit the back of my house by our bathroom. My mom and I was in our living room together when it hit. While everything was falling on our house we couldn't figure out what the hell was going on. We live near an airport. So did a airplane crash? Was it an earthquake? We kept looking at the TV and still

Aldies Has Gluten Free Food!

Image
I am soo excited to find Gluten-Free foods at Aldi is carrying Gluten Free!!  I bought the Double Chocolate Brownie Cookie and the brownie mix. I haven't made the brownies yet, but I ate all the Double Chocolate Brownie Cookies. It wasn't bad at all. It has a little grainy taste, but doesn't have an aftertaste like most soft gluten-free cookies that have a grainy taste to it.  The only thing that bothers me is, like usually, there isn't that many cookies in the box. There is only 12 cookies and they aren't really big at all. Can't complain too much because they only cost about $2.99 compared to the Gluten-Free cookies Meijer, Target, and Health Food Stores. Usually in these stores you have to spend close to $6.00 for 12 cookies, so I am not complaining.  These prices I put down are from the Grand Rapids MI stores. So prices may vary.  Go out to your Alidi and buy these items and send them a thank you message. Maybe with more tha

I decided to separate them because some of you might not want to read stuff about Celiac Disease or RSD, etc.. I will do my best to post frequently. It all depends on my schedule and information I want to share with you. I'm giving out a big hug to my readers and followers. If you haven't subscribed to my blogs you should.  Thanks everyone!

Image
http://www.thebutterflybakery.com/ A couple of days ago I received a package from Butterfly Bakery in the mail. I opened it up to find some Gluten -Free Mini Wild Blueberry Muffins and Gluten-Free Chocolate Chips. It was dinner time, but I just couldn’t wait till after dinner to eat one. I quickly opened the package and ate one of the Wild Blueberry Muffins and then I tried the Chocolate Chip Cookie. They were both delicious. Then my mom saw them, she isn’t Gluten-Free, and she had some. She didn’t believe me that they were Gluten-Free. By the end of the night there was only three cookies left and five muffins left. The blue berry muffin tasted sweet and smooth. It didn’t taste grainy or dry like most Gluten-Free muffins taste like. The chocolate chip cookie reminded of the Chip-Ahoy Cookies , which I greatly miss. This cookie made me so happy. Actually this cookie tasted better then a Chip Ahoy Cookie. Butterfly Bakery has many other products that are Gluten-Free. Here is a li

Celiac Disease Linked to Modestly Increased Mortality

by Laurie Barclay, MD September 15, 2009 — Mortality risk is modestly increased in patients with celiac disease, inflammation, or latent celiac disease, according to the results of a retrospective cohort study reported in the September 16 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. "Studies of mortality in celiac disease have not taken small-intestinal pathology into account," write Jonas F. Ludvigsson, MD, PhD, from Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, and colleagues. "We used nationwide histopathology data to examine the overall risk of death in individuals with celiac disease and inflammation. Through regional data linkage, we were also able to examine mortality in latent celiac disease." The investigators studied duodenal/jejunal biopsies performed at all 28 pathology departments in Sweden between July 1969 and February 2008 on celiac disease (Marsh stage III: villous atrophy; n = 29,096 individuals) and inflammation (Marsh stage I

Experts Identify Three Culprits for Gluten Allergy

HONG KONG (Reuters) Jul 21 - Researchers have identified three fragments in gluten that appear to trigger the autoimmune response in people with celiac disease. The findings, published online July 21st in Science Translational Medicine, may lead to a more targeted cure for the disease instead of what patients do now - abstain completely from food containing wheat, barley and rye and their by-products. "If you can (narrow down) the toxicity of an allergen to a few components, that enables you to make a highly targeted therapy in a way that you no longer need to target the whole immune system," said researcher Dr. Robert Anderson of The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research in Victoria, Australia. In the case of celiac disease, which is not an allergy but an autoimmune disorder, autoantibodies produced in response to gluten damage the lining of the small intestine. In order to identify the antigenic peptides recognized by the T cells that cause th
