Surround Me by Marguerite Martin Gray Book Review

Battles rage in Elizabeth Elliot’s heart as the threat of war invades her hometown.

Charles Town, South Carolina, 1773—The dark curtain of the rumors of revolution threatens to descend as Louis Lestarjette makes a permanent break from his homeland and pursues his relations with Elizabeth. Somehow, he must find a way to manage all aspects of his life amid the political and financial difficulties this turbulent time throws at him. Never has his heart been at the center of his life decisions, challenging what he really wants, if he cannot have it all.

Elizabeth Elliott must find unwavering courage, choosing to allow God’s love to surround her with strength. A marriage during a time of confusion seems impossible as a Patriot from a Loyalist family who loves a Frenchman. She wonders
how a faithful daughter can marry without her father’s permission. After a summer apart from Louis, she begins to fear that the uncertain times might delay their life together.

Marguerite Martin Gray is the author of Hold Me Close, Surround Me, and Bring Me Near-- Revolutionary Faith Books One, Two and Three. She enjoys studying history and writing fiction. Family Blessing Series by Stephanie Dees Book Reviews

Family Blessing Series

Book 1: The Dad Next Door

The Dad Next Door is the first book in the Family Blessing series. I fell in love with this series from the first five pages. It isn't your typical romance series. It is filled with realistic characters and situations.  It is a story about life and love.  Claire meets Joe Sheehan when she arrives at a mansion she inherited.  Joe, who is off due to an injury at work, has a twelve-year-old daughter who falls in love with Claire and her cats.  While Joe is healing him and his daughter helps Claire out with fixing the house. This heartwarming story takes you on their journey of love and life. It is full of twists and turns.  I could not put this book down. This series would make an amazing show on Hallmark or the Up Christian network.  The best part is even though this is a Christian romance novel it isn't preachy. Stephanie Dees does an amazing job of showing what a true Christian is without being preachy.

Book 2: A Baby For the Doctor

A Baby for the Doctor is the second book in the Family Blessing series. The Dad Next Door was so amazing I went right into reading A Baby for the Doctor because I couldn't' wait.  Again, Stephanie Dees outdid herself.  Now Claire has opened up the mansion, the governor's mansion, as a foster home.  Jordan decides to come to help Claire by being a therapist in the foster home. She then decides to become a foster mother to a very sick boy.  It is an amazing story of how love, kindness, understanding, and passion works.
Stephanie Dees books are fantastic. They have so many amazing twists and turns to make it hard to put down her book. Her characters are realistic and have depth. The life situations are realistic and have good conflicts and resolutions. Purchase it on Amazong at: Click Here

Book 3: Their Secret Baby Bond

Their Secret Baby Bond is the third book in the Family Blessing series. Stephane Dees's third book Their Secret Baby Bond is another book I just couldn't put down. She keeps showing me the world of Claire.  Wynn Sheehan has returned back home to Alabama and finds herself unmarried and pregnant. She grew up in Washington DC but ran away from home. Latham Grant was her first love.  He has been having a hard time ever since she left Wynn years ago.  Latham is unable to work due to the being pregnant and caring for her grandfather who isn't doing well.  Readers get to see Latham and her grandfather's relationship develop.

There are lots of sadness, kindness, and love. There are lots of twists and turns. I hope they make this into a Hallmark movie series. Purchase on Amazon at: Click Here

Book 4: The Marriage Bargain

The Marriage Bargain is the fourth book in the Family Blessings Series. Cameron Quinn returns home to Alabama to take care of her sister's two small children. At the age of fifteen, his stepfather kicked him out.  Jules and Cam come up with a plan to help save the kids from going to his mother.  This book focuses on the younger sister Jules.

Stephanie Dees again did amazing time with twist and turns that kept me engaged and wanting more.  Again, this one had realistic situations and characters. I defiantly was brought into the characters life journey.

I look forward to reading more and more of Stephanie Dees books. These books can be read as a stand alone, but each book does bring characters from the previous books into each book. None of these books were preachy. Dees's books are clean sweet romance life stories. I would love to see these books be made into a Hallmark series. These books were really hard to put down. They were easy to read. Stephanie Dees has a natural writing style which makes it easy to follow along and visualize the locations, characters, and their life. I highly recommend reading her books.

Trixie the Kitten Goes Under the Knife

My five-year-old cat got spayed yesterday. The process was very interesting.  I was debating on saving money and taking her to C-Snip because they only charged $45 and I believe that included a microchip.  My regular vet charges $125 + $21 for the microchip.  I decided to take her to my vet because if they see anything else wrong they can take care of it right there. They also were going to check her teeth, trim her nails. I was under the assumption they were going to do blood work too, but that was an added charge.  Another reason why I decided to take her to my vet to have the surgery is because I was worried that people lied about having their cats checked for FeLv, shots and if they are getting strays in they might have respiratory infections. I wanted to try to prevent my baby from catching anything.

I dropped her off at 8:30am. Signed paperwork and handed her off to the nurse. I called them around 12:00pm to see how she is doing. They said she hasn't had surgery yet and she is hiding under the blanket in the cage. Around 6:00pm I called. They told me she just went into surgery. Don't get me wrong I love my vet dearly but why the hell have us drop us off so early? Trixie had to sit in a scary place for nine hours before going into surgery. Wouldn't it be better to bring them in closer to the time they are realistically will do the surgery?

I picked her up this morning at 11:30am. She is doing pretty well. It is hard to keep a kitten not jump up on things. She was a crazy cat today.

As I am writing this she is sleeping next to my mom on the couch being cute.  I can't believe how fast she is growing. It seems like just yesterday we were bottle feeding her.

I can't stress how important it is to get your cat fixed. Getting a cat spayed or neutered does not just prevent having kittens, peeing all of the place it also brings down the risk of cancer.

Did you know that female cats can go into heat as young as four months? They can get pregnant that young too but usually, the babies won't survive. It can also kill the mother cat too.

Ninth Step Station A Serial Box Original Nerd Blast Tour and Giveaway

A local cop. A US Peacekeeper. A divided Tokyo.

Years of disaster and conflict have left Tokyo split between great powers.

In the city of drone-enforced borders, bodymod black markets, and desperate resistance movements, US peacekeeper Emma Higashi is assigned to partner with Tokyo Metropolitan Police Detective Miyako Koreda.

Together, they must race to solve a series of murders that test their relationship and threaten to overturn the balance of global power. And amid the chaos, they each need to decide what they are willing to do for peace.

A new kind of publishing company for a new age.

While technology has rapidly evolved, the way publishers and writers bring books to readers really hasn't. Storytelling in TV has become more sophisticated and multilayered, podcasts have risen to mainstream media status—but ebooks are just books on digital devices, not easier, more fun, or more social than they were before.

Serial Box is here to change all of that: artfully blending together the best of series television and the convenience of ebooks and audiobooks to bring readers a new form of storytelling. Releasing fiction serials over the course of 10-16 week seasons, Serial Box is about delivering addictive episodes straight to the user’s digital device to be read or listened to anytime, anywhere.

Taking a few pages from the world of television, Serial Box hires a team of talented and award-winning writers to collaborate on each serial, pulling the best ideas to develop great characters and craft a narrative that captivates readers over the course of the season. A new ensemble of writers works on each series, so each will vary in genre and length, but they'll always be entertaining page-turners that keep you wondering what will happen in next week's episode.

Serial Box brings everything that’s awesome about TV (easily digestible episodes, team written, new content every week) to what was already cool about books (well-crafted stories, talented authors, enjoyable anywhere).

Like TV, we release a new episode of our serials every week and serials typically run for seasons of 10-16 weeks. Easy to pick up, episodes are enjoyable on their own but build over the course of the season to tell a bigger story. Each episode is available in ebook and audio and takes about 40 minutes to enjoy.

Serialized fiction released in episodes week after week.

Talented and award-winning writers collaborate on each season.
Just like your favorite television shows, a team of writers gets together to collaboratively create the entire story, from plot lines to character arcs. Individual episodes are then written by the various authors, each bringing their unique voice and expertise to the finished product. Our lead writers, showrunners and editors oversee the writers room and the episodes that make it on to your small screens.

She doesn't remember her past much. As she goes through her Trials the memories start surfacing. Can she find a way to unravel the mysteries?

This is a fast paced book full of thought out environment and characters. There were twists and turns. Elizabeth Isaacs book reminds me a lot of Wonder Women meets Hungar Games.  I had the hardest time putting this book down. I could very much see this becoming a movie series.

My 2019 Golden Globe Awards Predictions

The Golden Globes of 2019 is fast approaching. I thought it would be fun to let you know who I think will win and who I wish will win. I haven't seen all of the movies and tv shows, but I will predict from the trailers and critics. Even if you haven't seen all of the movies and tv shows it is still fun to see if you are predicting it right.

To be honest, I haven't seen every movie in this category, but from what I have seen of them and what I have read from critics the film who has a very good chance of winning is Bohemian Rhapsody.

What I would love to see win: I would love to see Bohemian Rhapsody or Black Panther.

A Star is Born was a good film but if it wasn't for Lady Gaga and her music it would have been very boring.

I have not seen every movie in this category but I believe Mary Poppins Returns will win. I also could see Vice winning because everyone seems to be into politics.
What I would love to see win is Mary Poppins Returns

I haven't seen all of these but I feel Lady Gaga will win for  A Star is Born.
I am hoping Lady Gaga wins or Melissa McCarthy.

I haven't seen every film in this category, but I believe Rami Malck will win for Bohemian Rhapsody.
I would like to see Rami Malck win.

I haven't seen all of these movies but I believe Emily Blunt will win for Mary Poppins Returns
I would like to see Emily Blunt Win.

I haven't seen all of these movies but I believe Viggo Mortensen will win for Green Book
I want to see Lin-Manuel Miranda win for Mary Poppins Returns.

I haven't seen all of these films but I think Emma Stone will win for The Favourite.
I would like to see Emma Stone or Amy Adams win for this category.

I haven't seen all of these films, but I believe Timothee Chalamet Beautiful Boy or Mahershala Ali for Green Room.  I am leaning more towards Mahershala Ali.
I would like to see Mahashala Ali win for Green Room.

I haven't seen all of these films, but I believe Peter Farreily will win for Green Book.
I am hoping Bradly Cooper will win for A Star is Born

I have not seen all of these films but I have a feeling Alfonso Cuaron for Roma will win.
I would like to see Deborah Davis, Tony McNamara win for The Favourite.

I haven't seen all of these films but I believe Mirai will win.
I hope Incredibles 2 will win.

I have no clue who will win this category. I have a feeling Roma or Shoplifters will be the winner. I am leaning more towards Shoplifters.

I haven't seen all of these films, but I pretty certain Mary Poppins Returns will win this category. I would like to see Mary Poppins Returns win this category.

I have heard all these songs. I believe Shallow from A Star is Born will win. I would like to see Shallow win too.

I haven't seen every TV series on this list but I have a feeling The Americans will win. I would like  Bodyguard to win.

I have seen all of these and I believe  The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will win this category. I hope it will win too.

I haven't seen any of these, but I have a feeling The Alienist will win.

I haven't seen these shows, but I believe Regina King will win.

I haven't seen any of these, but I believe Benedict Cumberbatch will win
This one is really tough. I have seen all of these. I believe Elisabeth Moss will win for The Tale Handmaid. I want to see Caitriona Balfe to win for Outlander.

I have seen a couple of these TV series. I believe Billy Porter will win for Pose. I would like to see Jason Bateman win for Ozark.

I have seen all of these TV series. I believe Rachel Brosnaham will win for  The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

I haven't seen all of these TV shows but I believe Michael Douglas will win for The Kominsky Method. I would like to see Jim Carrey win for Kidding.
This is another hard category. I have seen most of these shows. I believe Yvonne Strahovski will win for The Handmaid's Tale. I would like to see Alex Borstein win for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

I haven't seen all these shows, but I believe Alan Arkin will win for The Kominsky Method. I would love to see Henry Winkler will win for Barry.

Who do you think will win? Tune to the Golden Globes on Sunday, January 6th, 2019 at 8:00pm EST.
