Halloween Gluten Free List 2018

Recently, I went to the Halloween Night at Greenfield Village. Throughout the park they had treat station which gave out candy. In the hotel, I poured out all the treats I got. Guess what?! All of the candy they gave out I could only have one piece of candy. I am glad I am 32 years old and can deal with the sadness, but if I was little kid I would be crying.  It makes me so frustrated with events like this who don't think about kids with food allergies. There is no reason why they couldn't hand out pencils, pens, history pamphlets about Halloween, Halloween pins etc.  Anyways now that I had my little sputtering.

Halloween is a lot of fun except when you have food allergies. I am very proud our society is seeing this and started an awareness program called the Pumpkin Project by putting out a teal colored pumpkin on your front porch. This tells parents the person is handing out non-food items.

Our society is slowly understanding food allergies, but it is still easy and cheaper to hand out candy. The #1 thing to do to protect yourself and your kids are read labels carefully. If you question some ingredients call the manufacturer. If you still question it after talking to the manufacturer then be safe and not eat it.

Here is a list of 2018 Gluten Free Candy:

  • Regular Airheads
  • Sour Airheads
Airheads have a very clear statement about what products are gluten-free and which are not. They also label on their products that are produced in a facility with wheat because Airheads Xtremes contain wheat and are produced in the same facility.

An Unpresentable Glory by Eleanor Gustafson Book Review

An Unpresentable Glory by Eleanor Gustafson is a heartwarming romance with great twists. It is a fiction story that covers a variety of topics such as mental illness, depression, loneliness. Eleanor K Gustafson gives some history on Native American and Latino.  It shows what being a true Christian is all about. Linda welcomes a total stranger who goes into anaphylactic shock. Linda couldn't leave him on his own so she welcomes this complete stranger into in her house. She allowed him to stay until he was recovered.  Without giving out too much information, Linda learns who this stranger is on TV. Eleanor's characters are well thought out and relatable. She showed what kindness, faith and love looks like.  As a reader, I was able to picture each character clearly. What I love most about this book is Eleanor gave an unbiased look into the political scene and it wasn't a preachy faith-based book. I could see her book being made into a Hallmark channel.  I highly recommend getting An Unpresentable Glory.  The only con about this book is you won't be able to put it down until you finish it.

    Paperback Book & ebook
    Publisher: Emerald House Group
    Author: Eleanor Gustafson
“I trusted you, and some day, you may know just how much you hold in your hands.” Linda Jensen leads a relatively quiet life in Westchester County, New York, as the owner of a highly-acclaimed garden. Inherited from her parents, the garden is her pride and joy. What is not so joyful is finding a strange man sprawled near her delphiniums! The mysterious man is sick, unable to do anything more than drink water—and beg for secrecy. Ignoring all alarm bells, Linda sees to his needs, but her caring act takes on unexpected significance, an unpresentable glory. Seeds of trust, and perhaps love, are planted in Linda’s garden haven. But as secrets are revealed and scandal hits the headlines, the act of caring for this man threatens to tarnish both of their reputations. Like weeds in Linda’s garden, circumstances threaten to choke out their fledgling relationship, and small moments prove to be the biggest influencers—on a national scale.

My life has been full and rich, a grand mix of tears and laughter
. God has been kind and gentle with me from before I can remember. The gift of writing is just one of many opportunities he has given me to reflect his glory and to bring a ray of light into other people’s lives. By his grace, I am indeed “a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season.” (Psalm 1:3)
What have I done in life? Everything from being a minister’s wife, teacher, musician, writer, and encourager, to horses, building houses, tree farming and making maple syrup – all of which has been helpful fodder for writing fiction. My passion is God and then comes loving people and writing. My favorite books are the Bible, Jane Eyre, and Pride and Prejudice. My music of choice is classical – it feeds my soul. However, wherever worship is going on in whatever musical language, I ’m there—happily.
I have a wonderful family. A little weird, perhaps, but our three children and eight grandchildren remind us that life goes way beyond the making of books. For more on them, see Family.
Ellie’s short stories and articles have appeared in a number of national and local magazines. Her pallet of experiences has helped bring color and humor to her fiction. In many of her stories, Ellie explores the cosmic struggle between good and evil in light of God’s overarching work of redemption.

    About the Book

Titile: Lady of a Thousand Treasures
    Series: Victorian Ladies, Book 1
    Author: Sandra Byrd
    Publisher: Tyndale House
    Release Date: October 9, 2018

Genre: Historical/Gothic RomanceMiss Eleanor Sheffield is a talented evaluator of antiquities, trained to know the difference between a genuine artifact and a fraud. But with her father’s passing and her uncle’s decline into dementia, the family business is at risk. In the Victorian era, unmarried Eleanor cannot run Sheffield Brothers alone.

The death of a longtime client, Baron Lydney, offers an unexpected complication when Eleanor is appointed the temporary trustee of the baron’s legendary collection. She must choose whether to donate the priceless treasures to a museum or allow them to pass to the baron’s only living son, Harry—the man who broke Eleanor’s heart.
Eleanor distrusts the baron’s motives and her own ability to be unbiased regarding Harry’s future. Harry claims to still love her and Eleanor yearns to believe him, but his mysterious comments and actions fuel her doubts. When she learns an Italian beauty accompanied him on his return to England, her lingering hope for a future with Harry dims.
With the threat of debtor’s prison closing in, Eleanor knows that donating the baron’s collection would win her favor among potential clients, saving Sheffield Brothers. But the more time she spends with Harry, the more her faith in him grows. Might Harry be worthy of his inheritance, and her heart, after all? As pressures mount and time runs out, Eleanor must decide whom she can trust—who in her life is false or true, brass or gold—and what is meant to be treasured.

    My Opinion of the Book

This is my first time reading a Sandra Byrd book. Lady of a Thousand Treasures is well written. The historical details are amazing. Her words were smooth and easy to follow. As I read her words I was able to see the locations, items and all the character inside my head.  Not only did her characters have depth so did the antique artifacts.  Her story took me on Ellie Sheffild's life journey in a time period when women had no rights. Its a story of mystery, romance, heartbreak, family and forgiveness.  Ellie is trying to keep her family business going, but is faced with one problem after another.
When Ellie is appointed a temporary trustee of a wealthy client's collection after his death, she must make the difficult decision of what to do with these items. Even though Harry and others conspire to work against Ellie and despite being nearly alone in her troubles she makes herself forgive and trust. She finds a place of stregth inside herself apart from family and friends.

This story taught me many things. It taught me to think about is an aritfact more impartnat than family. It also taught me each item tells a story from a persons life. When my grandfather passed away we were left with all of his stuff. My family members would fight over who would get what. You realize that every item tells a story. I remember my grandfather telling me stories about his hats and why he bought them.

After reading Lady of a Thousand Treasures I look forward to reading some more of the Victorian Ladies series. Lady of a Thousand Treasures is book one of the Victorian Ladies series. I can't wait for her next book to come out. I would highly recommend this inspirational, historical fiction.
