Lilly Lou Makes a New Friend by Mike Murphy Children Book Book Review

ABOUT THE BOOK

The Lilly Lou and Moozites stories give young readers and their families ideas about places to go in the United States, interplanetary travel, and how to befriend others who may not be like us or from our region of the country. Lilly Lou's relationship with the Moozites opens up a world and universe of adventures for her. The books are intended to make children smile and want to know more about the world around them. Jonathan Hoefers illustrations give readers an opportunity to find emotion and a sense of wonder about the places we see and the people we can meet.

MY BOOK REVIEW

Mike Murphy created a unique and interesting layout for a children's book. There is not many pages with illustrations. The book is organized in chapters.
Lilly Lou Makes a New Friend is about a space panada who lands on their family's farm. The panada is looing for Moozy Woozy. They determined he is in NYC. Lou and the space panada hops in an earth car with the Lou family.
I like how the book gives some facts about the locations they are looking for Moozy Woozy. For example, the Empire State Building was built in 1931. The pacing of the book is on the slower side in the beginning, but it ended really fast. The message I received from the book is being kind even to strangers. Just because someone is different doesn't mean you should not help them. Another message I got from it was working together. The more you work together the faster you can find someone or something. I hope Mike Murphy mades more books of this series. I want to space pandas to take Lou Family up to where they live. This is a really good book for second to fourth grade because there aren't many pictures but there is a lot of words. Social studies teachers should really think about having this book in their classroom. It is a cute story.
