MY BOOK REVIEW

“Welcome to Shivoo!” surprised me. It wasn’t at all what I thought it would be. Working in a very creative industry I thought this book would be very helpful. The past couple of years I have been feeling lost and not on the right path or is this just my self-confidence letting me down and telling me I am no good.
“Welcom to Shivoo!” is a philosophical type book. It contains a lot of information to get you thinking about things, but it wasn’t a book I could skim. I had to read some of the pages at least three times to figure out what Laura Bartnick is trying to get at. I almost quit reading the book a couple times, but I am glad I didn’t because the middle to the end of the book is where I finally understood the direction she was going in.

Like I said, it is a slow read, but it would be a good book to use as a resource into other persons view on our Creator and being creative.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Bartnick has been a youth counselor with Youth for Christ, and a worship musician for many years. She is the managing partner of Capture Books, a small but mighty boutique Christian publishing group. She loves creativity and words. She loves to explore the deeper meaning of the things we casually say to one another, the things we write down. She earned a double degree in Bible and Composition from Montana Bible College and Colorado Christian University and is a truth-seeker and recipient of God’s love.

I have to try…” In Welcome to the Shivoo!, I try to show that God is the center of a creative’s world, and because of His love and goodness, we have a home and a place to belong. Creativity erupts from that place.

From there, the book shows how there is a Biblical theology for being creative and a means to thrive in creativity. It challenges Christians to be authentic, to focus, to communicate, and to transform. It explains how there is a kingdom language we are charged to learn, as believers, and to use not in a sloppy way, but responsibly. And, it sends us off with an exuberant blessing to go create something and enjoy the process!
