Never Miss by Melissa Koslin

ABOUT THE BOOK

Former CIA sniper Kadance Tolle possesses a special set of skills and a rare pedigree. She comes from a family of assassins, and by saving Lyndon Vaile's life she risks being found by them. Despite the danger, Kadance feels compelled to help Lyndon discover who is after him--and his research that seems to prove that the Ebola virus was manmade and is about to be weaponized.

With shadowy figures pursuing them and a Mastermind watching their every move, Kadance and Lyndon must scramble to stop an impending bioattack at the State of the Union address. But their warnings fall on deaf ears, and it becomes increasingly clear that there's no one they can trust--except perhaps each other.

MY BOOK REVIEW

I love suspense/thriller books and the cover and description of  Melissa Koslin's new book "Never Miss" looked awesome. I couldn't wait to read it.  "Never Miss" was not a really fast-paced, nail-biting type of book, but sometimes lulls are a good thing. Inconsistent pacing in suspense stories allows for the plot to develop during the turmoil. I found myself getting bored and want to skip pages to get through the book.  The plot was complicated and did have some interesting twists to the story, but it was missing reality.

The story revolves around Mac, Kandace, Lyndon. Mac is very smart and intuitive.  Lyndon was the smart one in the story. He has three doctorate degrees before the age of 30. He has a photographic memory. He struggles with lying. He was unique, but I wasn't a fan of him.  He is really loyal to Kandace and didn't push her to open up about her past.

Mellissa Koslin wrote a really good backstory to Kandace. She has been through so much.  She tries to deal with her past and her fear of betrayal. She is a CIA sniper and good at what she does. She is able to stay calm in stressful situations. The characters were presented and developed well earlier on in the book. The majority of the story played off through dialogue between the characters.

There is some romance in the book. The romance was really only physical. There weren't any tensions.  Basically, Lyndon and Kadance had a friendship with benefits. For me, I didn't think the romance needed to be in this story. When it comes to Christianity there wasn't much.

I was a little disappointed in the ending. Melissa Koslin did a good job building the backstory of the plot but didn't tie up the loose endings.  There are many parts of the story where Koslin could cut some details and it still would make sense.  Some topics in the story are child abuse,

There were a lot of good things in "Never Miss". I am glad I was given a chance to read it. It was an intriguing storyline. I would recommend reading it.  I look forward to reading some more of Melissa Koslin's books.
